These young women from Oregon are posing in front of the Hotel Martha Washington - the first women's only hotel, opened a few years earlier in 1903. As the hotel was used as a residence as well as a place to stay during travels, it's not clear whether they have come to the big city for a visit or to find jobs. In any event, they don't give the impression they've yet fully "settled in". Check the detail views to admire the hats and hat pins. Located at 30 East 30 in Manhattan, the building is still a hotel, now known as Hotel Thirty Thirty. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
