Looking south down Main Street in Oregon City in about 1884. The cross street past the brick building is 6th Street. A treasure trove for Oregon City historians, this photo gives a detailed view of downtown Oregon City shortly before electricity, the trolley, and then automobiles would would change the landscape forever. Firewood was still delivered and stacked on the dirt streets in front of commercial buildings. Both the Courier and Enterprise newspapers had offices on the right, before they combined to form the Enterprise Courier. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
