This subtle view of the Columbia was created by photographer W. H. Jackson during the years he was a partner in the Detroit Photographic Company. By this time Jackson had many decades of experience, and the composition of his landscape photos indicated a keen eye and a mature grasp of his art. Detail view 1 shows a small houseboat anchored along the shore of this wilderness scene. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
