We are guessing the location is in Eastern Washington, as the photographer was based in Seattle, but it could well be in Idaho. Several folks have suggested this is in the Wallula Gap area. Can you help us identify the location? We are also assuming this is a mining operation, as the previous owner of the photo identified it that way.
No actual mine is visible, and this appears to be a transfer station of some sort. A Moline Pitless Scale is clearly visible, which was generally used to weigh wagon loads or livestock.
