When the Multnomah Hotel first opened in 1912, it was the Northwest's largest and most modern hotel. It remained Portland's largest hotel until 1961. This photo can be dated by a closer look at detail view 1, where we can see "V Invest" posters and other World War I posters displayed in the windows. From 1965 through 1992 government offices occupied the building, after which it was purchased and returned to its original use as the Embassy Suites Hotel.
