Part of a series of town views of Portland created by photographer Herbert A. Hale, this view looks across the western end of downtown towards snow-covered Mt. Hood. We're looking east on Burnside Street at the left of the photo, and the large warehouse-type building is the Exposition Building, located at about Burnside and 16th. It was destroyed by fire in 1910. Other notable buildings are the High School, shown in detail view 1, and the Marquam Grand Opera, shown in detail view 2. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
