Detail view 1 reveals the name of the steamboat - the "Diamond O". This ship started out as the "Dalles City", often photographed in its earlier days along the Columbia River.
Rebuilt after sinking in 1909, its name was changed , and it continued to run on the river until 1935. Visible in Detail View 2 is the West Linn pier for the new bridge, which was built to support the roadway, rather than the arch itself.
