This World War II era photo shows that while fishing platform footings and men's clothing had changed, the basic technology and fishing techniques at Celilo had stayed pretty much the same.
If it catches fish, use it. Detail view 1 gives us a good look at the traditional nets used to pull salmon from the river. Detail 2 shows a concrete footing for one part of the platform.
Fifteen years later the tradition of fishing at the Falls essentially disappeared, when they were flooded by the building of The Dalles Dam.
