This idyllic lumber camp scene is somewhat unusual, as camps were more often located surrounded by stumps than next to standing trees.
This idyllic lumber camp scene is somewhat unusual, as camps were more often located surrounded by stumps than next to standing trees. Detail view 1 reveals a girl and her brother, with the family dog below them. In the shed to the right can be seen a large quantity of small firewood - perhaps this good-sized building is a dining hall.
The original for this image is a large print by John F. Ford, known for his well-composed scenes of logging along both sides of the lower Columbia River.
