Part of a series of petroglyph photos by Markham, this view consists mostly of game animals, with what appears to be a stylized sun and a bird near the bottom. Many of the images are self-apparent, but the full meaning of the drawings, which were chiseled or ground into the rocks, has been lost.
These petroglyphs are from Petroglyph Canyon, on the Washington side of the Columbia, and were submerged by the filling of the Dalles Dam in 1957. Some were removed and are now on display nearby at Columbia Hills State Park.
