As can be seen in the two detail views, many visitors were arriving by car by 1920, at which point the town had a population of about 80. Store offerings look pretty familiar - ice cream, candy, tobacco and notions. Rockaway was incorporated in 1943 and its name was officially changed to Rockaway Beach in 1987. Population today is about 1400.
