During World War I, Liberty Temples were built in many cities as a place for patriotic rallies and headquarters for the Third Liberty Loan Drive, which helped fund the war.
During World War I, Liberty Temples were built in many cities as a place for patriotic rallies and headquarters for the Third Liberty Loan Drive, which helped fund the war. They were often built in the middle of a busy street.
Oregon City's was on Seventh, just off Main between the bridge and the elevator. Portland's was located in the middle of Sixth Avenue between Morrison and Yamhill.
It appears that Adams Department Store, previously located on the southwest corner of 7th and Main, had closed at the time this photo was taken.
