This idyllic view of fishing below the Falls is recreated from a hand-tinted print of a black and white (actually sepia tone) photo. We also offer a sepia toned version which can be seen by clicking through the thumbnail shown below in Related Items.
Note that we did not create the hand-tinting; each version is made from an original from about 120 years ago. A number of methods of capturing salmon can be seen, including both standing and sitting in a small boat (detail view 1). There is also a canvas covered boat in detail view 2 that was probably used to keep fish fresh during a warm day.
