This early photo shows the new town of Keno, located about 15 miles downstream from Klamath Falls, along the Klamath River. The town's post office was established one year earlier, in 1887.
This early photo shows the new town of Keno, located about 15 miles downstream from Klamath Falls, along the Klamath River. The town's post office was established one year earlier, in 1887.
Of note is a small sternwheeler on the left, which can be seen in detail view 2. As it appears it could not pass under the bridge, it was limited to travelling between Keno and Klamath Falls, which was still called Linkville at the time this photo was taken. (The river is flowing northwest at this location.)
Today Keno is an unincorporated area that houses about 1000 people and an elementary school.
