According to an inscription on the back of the original photo, this is the Thomas Ayers house lodged near the Palace Hotel, where it came to rest after the Heppner flash flood. This photo, and several others on this website, was taken by Boyd G. Sigsbee, a portrait photographer based in Heppner.
This is just the second story, which was torn away from the rest of the house. Amazingly enough, it was salvageable, and was later moved to east bank of Willow Creek, where it became a one-story house for the Ayers.
