There have been boats on Crater Lake since at least 1869, used for both scientific study and pleasure cruises. This photo from 1912 shows that fishing had been added to that list. The original image is from a portfolio produced by photographers Kunselman and Gerking, titled "Crater Lake National Park - Hand Colored". In 1907, official boat tours had been added to the lake, which still continue today. Personal boats are no longer allowed on Crater Lake.
