From a group of hand-colored larger prints from George Weister we recently acquired, this view shows the newly completed Vista House, with the Columbia River Gorge behind it.
With more detail than the more common colorized postcards, these prints celebrated in vibrant colors the Columbia River Highway - the first paved scenic highway in the U. S. The craftsmanship in the road's railings are apparent in the foreground of this scene.
