Many of Kiser's Columbia River Highway photos contrast the geometric lines of bridges and railings with the organic forms of the Columbia River Valley. This view succeeds especially well. Elegant and simple, it relaxing and yet tells the story of the opening of the new highway - an historic event, as it was the nation's first "scenic highway".

This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
