This large-scale hop drying operation was photographed by Urban Hadley in the 1880s. By this time U.S. hop productions was shifting from New York to the Pacific Northwest. Detail view 1 shows us the principals of the business, several decorated with strands of hops. Detail view 2 shows the large ramps going to the upper part of the dryers, allowing newly harvested hops to be unloaded at that level.
