Katherine and Selkirk Munra were known as Grandma and Grandpa Munra when they ran the Bonneville Eating House, along the tracks of the O R & N near the current site of the Bonneville Dam. Selkirk was older and died some time before 1900, while Katherine lived till the 1920s.
Of the two, she is the better known, with Munra Point and Munra Creek in the Columbia Gorge now named in her honor. See a closer view of the couple in detail view 1.
As is evident, the tracks passed right next to the eating house. Electricity had not arrived - the lamps out front are all kerosene.
