Looking east down old Highway 26 in Government Camp, we see the Battle Axe Inn in the left foreground, Battle Axe Recreation Hall behind it, and Hill's Place across the road on the right. A closer look at detail view 1 reveals the sign painted on the window for Hill's Place Groceries. At the time of this photo, Government Camp was the center of recreational activity for Mount Hood. Change was coming, however, as Timberline Lodge would be constructed in 1937 and 1938. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
