In this posed photo, the crew demonstrates some of the ways they pass the time while staying prepared at Station 4 in Portland. It appears one civilian has joined them, observing the card game. This is probably the new station at 1724 SW 4th Avenue, which served from 1913 through 1960. It replaced an earlier station on the same site, built in 1873. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon. Original courtesy of City of Portland Archives.
