Built in 1890 (after the devastating 1889 fire), the Seattle Hotel was located at the edge of Pioneer Place at Jackson and Railroad (now Alaskan Way). The early motorized coach parked in front was built by a premier coach-builder of that time, the E. M. Miller Company of Quincy, Illinois. Note the plaque in detail view 2.

When the hotel was demolished in 1961 to be replaced by a parking garage, its loss helped galvanize the Seattle preservation movement.
