This highly detailed view suggests a close relationship between this man, his books, and his bicycle.
This highly detailed view suggests a close relationship between this man, his books, and his bicycle. It was taken by Mrs. Flora H. Browning, who operated her studio at 167 1/2 First Street in Portland.
Detail view one gives us a better view of the man and his straw hat, and detail view 2 shows some of the accessories on his bicycle, including a shiny bell, handlebar grips, and a fascinating headlamp. The headlamp appears to be a kerosene model, which competed with acetylene headlamps in the late 1800s.
