1890 Salem Flood, Looking Northeast Across Pringle Creek

The 1890 flood in Salem was the largest flood the city had experienced since 1861. In this view, we are looking northeast from High Street towards the State Capitol and other buildings in the city center.

In detail view 1, we see the Capitol, but don't see its dome. That's because the dome was not added till three years later, in 1893. The original for this image is a boudoir card by Myra Sperry, a Salem photographer who advertised herself as "Sperry the Artist".
