This wooden trestle, completed in 1883, was short-lived, replaced by an iron trestle in 1884 - 1885.
This wooden trestle, completed in 1883, was short-lived, replaced by an iron trestle in 1884 - 1885. It appears this photo was taken as the trestle neared completion, as detail view 1 shows a work crew - perhaps laying the track. Like many of the high wooden trestles, this one was replaced due to structural issues and to increase resistance to fire.
Impressively, the 1885 iron version still stands, and is now used for Montana Rail Link's Evaro Hill Line.
