Thomas Miller and Marian Allen's marriage on New Year's eve, Dec. 31, 1863, linked two of the West Linn area's earliest settler families.
Thomas Miller and Marian Allen's marriage on New Year's eve, Dec. 31, 1863, linked two of the West Linn area's earliest settler families. While this may not be a wedding photo, it appears to be an early cabinet card from the 1860s.
Thomas and Marian both crossed the Oregon Trail as children with their families in 1850, perhaps in the same wagon train. Both families initially settled in the Linn City area, though after their marriage Thomas and Marian lived in Oregon City. Thomas was bailiff of the court in Oregon City for 56 years, and lived until 1930 - allowing him to witness eighty years of changes to the Willamette Falls area.
