Details
Yaquina Head is a narrow point of land jutting due west into the Pacific at the north end of Newport in Lincoln County. It is currently managed by the BLM as the Yaquina Head Natural Area.
The 93-foot-tall Yaquina Head lighthouse was built of brick in 1873, and still operates today with its original Fresnel lense.
As with most lighthouses, it has its own signature pattern - 2 seconds flash, 2 seconds dark, 2 seconds flash, and 14 seconds dark. All of the buildings except for the tower were removed in 1984.
