Originally named Alkali, the town was incorporated as Arlington in 1885. It was founded as a place to ship cattle down the Columbia River. In 1963 the town moved south, as the original location was flooded by the John Day dam. This photo is a bit rough, but it seems a good match for the town. They share a down-home charm. Interesting trivia: Arlington was the birthplace of Doc Severson, for many years the band leader on the Tonight Show. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
