The whole town has come out for a photo opportunity in Bonanza, located about 25 miles east of Klamath Falls. Founded in 1876 by J. P. Roberts, it was growing slowly at the time this image was captured.

Our version is restored from a boudoir card created by David C. Herrin, when his studio was located in Lakeview. The composition of this photo makes it look like the fledgling town was in the middle of nowhere, but it actually served a growing agricultural area, with cattle, grains, fruit and vegetables. Its population is now about 400.
