Details
A well-to-do girl in a wonderful fringed dress, posed next to perhaps a family heirloom? Or was the statuette a prop maintained by Joseph Buchtel, the photographer, who created this portrait in about 1875?
Agnes was the daughter of Senator Joseph Dolph and his wife, Augusta (Mulkey) Dolph, who were married in 1864. A lawyer, Dolph was Portland City Attorney from 1864 to 1865, and later served in the U.S. Senate from 1883 to 1895.
