Details
We know this early stereoview of Youngs River Falls was created between 1869 and 1873 from the address of Joseph Buchtel's photographer stamp on its reverse.
The falls were familiar to Lewis and Clark - found by their hunting party in March, 1806.
Located in Clatsop County, about 10 miles south of Astoria, the falls are on the Youngs River, which empties into Youngs Bay, which is the body of water you cross heading southwest of Astoria toward Highway 101.
