Details
In 1909 the Marconi ran aground on the Coos Bay south spit, while leaving for Valpariso, Chile. This unusual close-up view shows a group of curious visitors examining her wreckage.
Built in 1902 by the Simpson shipyard in North Bend, Oregon, the Marconi was a four-masted schooner, and traveled the world from her base in San Francisco.
