A large crowd of civilians has come on board the battleship U.S.S. Oregon in this view in an unidentified harbor, likely taken shortly before the Oregon left for the Philippines. I wonder about the identity of the man in the center, lounging comfortably in his straw hat in front of the 13" armament. Also visible above are the 8" secondary guns.
One of the most modern ships of its day, the Oregon here shares the harbor with a tall-masted ship. See Related Photos below for a view of the after turret. Both were taken by naval photographer E. H. Hart.
