Three men stop along the tracks to admire the U.S.S. Charleston - the first Navy ship to visit the Portland Rose Festival. This was the third U.S.S. Charleston. See Related Items below for the second, which was wrecked in 1899. 1907 was also the first year for the Rose Festival. Since then hundreds of Navy ships have docked along the Portland waterfront at festival time.
