This image is a detail from a wider panoramic print by photographer Burhl Harwood. Harwood operated Harwood Photo Services in Medford from about 1925 through 1931.
In his photograph, he has dressed his subject in a feathered headdress typical of the Plains peoples, and not generally worn by members of the local Klamath tribe. However, they were worn along the Columbia River, and there is some possibility that this "scout" had traveled south from that area.
