A good overview of many aspects of a turn-of-the-last-century logging operation, captured here by Portland photographer John F. Ford.
A good overview of many aspects of a turn-of-the-last-century logging operation, captured here by Portland photographer John F. Ford. Of interest is the way large logs were used to support the tracks across uneven ground.
Detail view 1 shows us the little engine's crew. Detail 2 shows us the undercarriage of the cars hauling the logs. Backing up again, we can see steam and smoke coming from both the rail engine and the donkey engine to the left.
