Most people know Mitchell's Point as the location for the tunnel with windows, built for the historic Columbia Gorge Highway in 1915.
Most people know Mitchell's Point as the location for the tunnel with windows, built for the historic Columbia Gorge Highway in 1915. This view, however, shows the Point from its side, approaching on the highway from the west.
The tunnel is out of sight, being further around the point on its north side. A careful look at detail view 1 reveals a train passing the point on a lower level, and the road winding around the point above.
This photo is part of a series of Columbia River scenes by photographer Clark Kinsey, better known for his logging photographs.
