One of Ralph Eddy's earliest landscape photos, this view looks up the Clackamas River at an unknown location - probably not too far from Eddy's home in Oregon City. Eddy was still experimenting with different types of photography, searching for a way to make a living at his craft.
After running a portrait studio and taking journalistic photos of his home town, he tried scenic photos, which evolved into the postcards for which he is now best known.
