The original for this detailed image of a stand of Ponderosa was a large print that hung for many years in the Weyerhaeuser offices in Klamath Falls. A Minneapolis family, the Weyerhaeusers purchased the Klamath Lake Railroad and nearby forest lands in 1905. By 1908, they controlled over 150,000 acres in the area.
Their operation grew to over 1,000 employees by World War II, but by 1992 the great mill closed down, and in 1996 Weyerhaeuser sold their last interests to U.S. Timberlands and Collins Products Company.
