Drive belts run from a central electric motor to power the tools used to make cabinets in this northeast Portland shop at 1454 Sandy Blvd. The shop owner, Trygve Wigen is at right. He and both of his employees immigrated from Norway.
It appears a lot of plywood is being used, and it's interesting to note that modern commercial plywood manufacturing began in Portland in 1905, and was initially used in door panel and cabinet making.
