The Oregon City mills were started in 1864, and ran until 1954, when the property was sold to the local paper mills. At the time this photo was taken, the firm specialized in blankets, and business was booming with the war driving large government contracts for blankets. After the war, using the slogan "Woven where the wool is grown", the mills expanded to over 5000 retail outlets.
