This view is representative of many photos taken of early 20th century excursions on the Columbia River on the Bailey Gatzert. Here we see it passing through the Cascade Locks on its way downstream to Portland.
Most of the passengers have come to the rail to have their pictures taken. One group can be seen better in Detail View 1. In Detail View 2 you'll find another type of passenger - a fine automobile making its way downstream.
