Railroad Tracks through the Northern Oregon Desert - 1939

This simple but striking view of tracks across the dessert was taken by Dorothea Lange in Morrow County, Oregon, about ten miles from the town of Irrigon. There is no hint here of the mighty waters of the Columbia River just a few miles away. Lange captured this scene in 1939, while in Oregon creating a series on migrant farm workers for the Farm Security Administration. -- This photo is restored and printed by Old Oregon.
