This is Camp Number 1 for Twohy Brothers Railroad Contractors, who were building this section of the Portland and Seattle Railway, which had been incorporated in 1905.
This is Camp Number 1 for Twohy Brothers Railroad Contractors, who were building this section of the Portland and Seattle Railway, which had been incorporated in 1905. The original glass negative, like the companion photos shown below in Related Items, is dated 1-3-1906.
Twohy Brothers itself was formed in the 1890s at Helena, Montana, but by 1898 had moved its headquarters to Spokane. The company was active in much of the railroad construction in the Pacific Northwest in the early 1900s. Note the early use of skylights in the two buildings.
