Looking east on Burnside Street - the next cross street is 12th Street. The large building on the left is the Henry Weinhard Brewery. Note the unpaved street, and the lack of streetcar tracks on this portion of Burnside.
Electrical lines were certainly present, however, and the diameter and height of the wooden poles are striking. Except for the brewery, the neighborhood is still mostly residential, with a couple of small shops on the right.
In the distance towards the main part of downtown, in detail view 2, we can see more activity, and what looks like rock piled in the street, perhaps for some type of construction project.
