Completed in 1873, at 93 feet, Yaquina Head is Oregon's tallest lighthouse. Its original Fresnel lense is still in use.
Completed in 1873, at 93 feet, Yaquina Head is Oregon's tallest lighthouse. Its original Fresnel lense is still in use. In 1966 the lighthouse was automated, and in 1984 all the buildings except for the tower were removed.
This photo is taken from an unusual angle - most views of the lighthouse are from much further to the right, and thus don't reveal the two window structures facing out to sea.
