The sternwheeler "Dalles City" labors to head upstream near the Cascades.
The sternwheeler "Dalles City" labors to head upstream near the Cascades. The Dalles City, built in Portland in 1891, was one of four steamships present when Cascade Locks opened in 1896, making the passage through the Cascades much easier. Note the blockhouse on the hill in detail 2.
