Most of us never had the chance to see Crater Lake and its islands at water level. Fortunately, photographer Frank Patterson captured that scene for us over 80 years ago.
Most of us never had the chance to see Crater Lake and its islands at water level. Fortunately, photographer Frank Patterson captured that scene for us over 80 years ago.
After leaving Hood River, Patterson spent most of the 1920s headquartered in Medford, specializing in photos of Crater Lake and other southern Oregon locations.
Here we see a group of tourists approaching Phantom Ship, a well-known rock formation that still attracts visitors from around the world. The classic wooden boat adds visual texture and ambiance to the scene.
