This early town view of Baker City is taken facing west towards the Elkhorn Mountains, with downtown buildings in the distant center. Many early photographers worked from Old Reservoir Hill, near Smith Lake, which offered an elevated location from which to picture the town.
Reproduced from an 1890s boudoir card, which is a good-sized photograph, prints of this view show a lot of detail, which can be seen in Detail View 1, showing more of the outskirts, and Detail View 2, showing more of the downtown.
